Welcome to St. Peter’s!

August 9, 2014
My Sisters and Brothers,
I hope that you and your families are well.
I will be away on vacation for the next two weeks.  In my absence, the Reverends Mia and David Hilborn will be staying in the Rectory and taking the Sunday morning services.  Please welcome them to St. Peter’s when you see them.  For pastoral emergencies while I am away, please call the Reverend Danielle Thompson at 931-636-4898; for any other issues, please call either of our Wardens, Gail Rodgers and Nora Lane at the parish office:  212 929-2390.  Faithfully, Reverend Stephen Harding

Historic St. Peter’s Chelsea Episcopal Church is an inclusive faith community celebrating God’s unconditional love for all.

Founded in 1831 to serve the growing neighborhood in the Spirit of Jesus, we strive to anchor and engage the community through worship, serving those in need, civic responsibility, activism, music and the arts in Chelsea and beyond.

All Are Welcome Here!

We are fortunate to worship in one of the most historic and beautiful church buildings in New York City, built in 1838, and coupled with a landmarked Rectory, from which we feed the hungry and care for the needy.

St. Peter’s is often referred to as “The Christmas Church” because of founder Clement Clarke Moore, who created  ”A Visit From St. Nicholas,” the world’s most famous Christmas poem.  Come visit and sit in the buildings original pews, enjoy our Tiffany and J&R Lamb Studios stained glass memorial windows, outdoor garden, Children’s Corner and more!  You can learn more about our history and art by clicking the About Us tab above.

And if you arrive prior to 9:55am for the 10am Service, you can ask to be the one to ring the historic Clock Tower Bell!

With blessings of peace,

Your friends at St. Peter’s Chelsea
